Grand Silk Road with Khiva
The full journey along Uzbekistan’s Silk Road: the walled city of Khiva, the caravan town of Bukhara and the blue domes of Samarkand, joined by a domestic flight, a desert crossing and high-speed trains.
Overview
Grand Silk Road with Khiva is a 9-day, 8-night private tour: a domestic flight from Tashkent to Urgench, two nights in Khiva, a drive across the Kyzylkum Desert to Bukhara, then high-speed trains to Samarkand and back to Tashkent. It includes handpicked 4-star or boutique hotels, transfers and 24/7 bilingual concierge. Price on request.
This is the most complete way to see Uzbekistan’s Silk Road cities. After a first evening in Tashkent, a short domestic flight takes you west to Urgench and on to Khiva, whose inner city of Itchan Kala sits within clay walls, crowded with minarets, palaces and madrasas.
From Khiva the road crosses the Kyzylkum Desert to Bukhara, a full travel day that rewards you with wide desert views and a sense of how the caravans once moved. Bukhara and Samarkand then follow, linked by the Afrosiyob high-speed train.
You stay in handpicked 4-star or boutique hotels close to each historic centre, with private transfers throughout and our bilingual concierge available day and night.

Questions about this tour
Khiva lies far to the west of Tashkent, and the flight to Urgench takes about 1.5 hours, compared with a very long drive. Urgench airport is a short transfer from Khiva, so you arrive rested and gain most of a day for sightseeing.

“We travelled as a family of five and everything was arranged before we asked. The driver was always on time, the train to Samarkand was comfortable, and our guide planned each day around prayer times. My children still talk about the gondola at Amirsoy.”
“It was my first trip to Central Asia and I felt looked after from the airport onwards. The concierge answered my messages in Arabic late at night, and the hotels were clean and well located. Seeing the Registan lit up in the evening was the highlight for me.”
“A well-organised trip at a fair price. Our guide knew the history of Samarkand in real depth and never rushed us. They also recommended excellent restaurants for plov and helped us find halal places every day. We are already planning Bukhara and Khiva with them.”
